Personal Budget Template – Description
The Comments
tab of this personal budget template gives you some basic instructions on how to use the template.
The Budget
tab is the main tab of the personal budget template. This is where you do most of your input.
The Budget Summary
tab is a summary report showing only the totals of the income and expense categories so that you can see your
monthly and annual personal budget at a glance.
The Bud vs Act
tab is a comparison between your budget and your actual expenses, if you choose to make one. I would highly recommend making
such a comparison. You can use this personal budget template to compute not only your budget but also your actual costs. Simply copy the tabs you want to use
for your actual expenses and rename them.
The Food
tab of the personal budget template is there to help you add up all your receipts. Without this informaiton it is difficult to
arrive at certain budgeted amounts. Unless you really keep track of what you spend on food, for example, you may be way off with your estimates. It is best to collect
your receipts for a period of 3 months or so and then add them all up. The same goes for some other expenses such as fuel or dining out. The choice of expense you need to
calculate at this level of detail will depend on your lifestyle. If you need more than the tabs provided for this purpose, just make additional copies of these tabs.
See instrucitons on how to do that below.
To copy a tab, right click on it and select Move or Copy
. Then, when the Move or Copy
window
appears, place a check mark in the Create a Copy
box in the lower left corner and choose where you would like the copied tab to be placed within the
worksheet.
